⚡ Working with a large account?
If you have a large account (high transaction volume), you can turn off Auto refresh and refresh manually when you're ready. This gives you more control over when calculations run and can help improve performance while you're working.
The Refresh Calculations menu lets you control when your calculations update and view their current status.
It’s especially useful for accounts with high transaction volume, where frequent automatic refreshes may interrupt your workflow.
Where to find it
You can access the Refresh Calculations menu from the top-right corner of the app.
Click the status indicator (colored dot) beside your profile icon
This will open the Refresh Calculations menu
Refresh status indicator
The colored dot shows the current state of your calculations:
Green — Calculations refreshed successfully
Yellow — Calculations are in progress
Orange — Changes have been made, and a refresh is required (when Auto refresh is off)
Red — Calculations failed to refresh (see Troubleshooting failed calculations)
Refresh Calculations menu
‘Refresh calculations’ button
Click Refresh calculations to manually trigger a full recalculation of your data.
If Auto refresh is on, your calculations will update automatically as changes are made — so you typically won’t need to use this.
You may want to manually use Refresh calculations if:
Auto refresh is turned off
You want to re-run calculations without making new changes
You want to confirm your reports/data/calculations are fully up to date
‘Auto refresh’ toggle
The Auto refresh toggle controls whether your calculations update automatically in the background. You can turn this on or off at any time.
When Auto refresh is ON
Calculations refresh automatically as changes are made
No manual action is needed in most cases
When Auto refresh is OFF
Automatic refreshes are paused
Calculations only update when you click Refresh calculations
If a refresh is already in progress, it will continue until it completes. It cannot be paused mid-refresh.
Turning off auto-refresh does not affect your data. It only controls when calculations run.
When to turn off auto refresh
Turning off auto refresh is recommended if you:
Have a large account (high transaction volume) and experience slow refresh times
Are making multiple changes in one session
Want more control over when calculations run
You can turn auto refresh back on at any time.
Suggested workflow for large accounts
Turn Auto refresh OFF
Complete your imports, edits, or transaction updates
Click Refresh calculations when finished
This helps avoid repeated recalculations and improves performance.
Working through the Review page?
Changes in earlier sections (e.g. categorizing transactions) may resolve items in later sections (such as missing purchase history). Refresh calculations before moving to the next section to ensure everything is up to date.
Troubleshooting failed calculations
If the status indicator turns red, the refresh did not complete successfully.
Try clicking Refresh calculations again. If the issue persists, contact support and include any error message shown.
Sharing the exact error message helps the team investigate faster.
