If you have used our Done-For-You service, you can refer someone else who needs it. Your friend gets $150 off their engagement, and we pay you $150 in cash once they have paid theirs in full.
Most people who come to us for Done-For-You have been putting it off for years, usually because their transaction history got away from them and they had no idea where to start. If you know someone in that position, this is a way to help them out and get paid for it.
What each side gets
You get $150 in cash. Paid by PayPal. We cover the PayPal fees, so you receive the full $150.
Your friend gets $150 off their first Done-For-You engagement. We apply the discount to their invoice, so they do not need to do anything.
Both amounts are in the currency your friend's engagement is invoiced in.
Who can refer
You can take part if you have completed a Done-For-You engagement with Summ and paid for it in full.
Expert Review clients are not eligible to refer under this program.
Who counts as a referred friend
Your friend qualifies if they:
have not bought Done-For-You from us before, and
sign on for a Done-For-You engagement, and
pay that engagement in full
They can already be a Summ subscriber. Plenty of people use our software for years before they hit a year messy enough to hand over.
Two things that do not qualify: someone who signs up for Expert Review rather than Done-For-You, and someone who has already been in conversation with our team about Done-For-You before you introduce them.
How to refer someone
You have two options, and the first one is easier.
Introduce us by email. Reply to any email from Justin and put your friend in the thread, or send him a note at [email protected]. He takes it from there and your referral is recorded automatically.
Send them your code. You will have received a referral code that looks like D4U-SMITH12. Pass it to your friend and ask them to quote it when they book. We match the code to you when we raise their invoice.
If your friend books without mentioning the code, tell us. We can still attach the referral as long as their engagement has not been invoiced yet.
How the discount reaches your friend
Your friend does not enter a code anywhere. Done-For-You is quoted on a call and invoiced by hand, so we apply the $150 discount to their invoice before it goes out. They will see it as a line item.
When you get paid
Your $150 is paid after your friend has paid their engagement in full. A deposit or part payment does not trigger it.
We pay on a monthly cycle, 60 days after the end of the month the payment lands in. So if your friend settles their engagement in September, your $150 is paid on 1 December.
We pay by PayPal, to the email address we have on file for you. If you would rather we used a different address, tell us before the payout date.
Limits
You can earn a reward on up to five referrals. There is no limit on how many people you introduce, but only the first five that convert and pay are rewarded.
One reward per referred friend. If two people refer the same person, the reward goes to whoever introduced them first.
What is not covered
Referring yourself, or someone in your own household, using a second email address
Someone who was already in a sales conversation with us before you introduced them
Anyone whose engagement is refunded, cancelled or charged back. If this happens after we have paid you, we may recover the amount from a future payout.
Expert Review engagements, on either side of the referral
One thing to be clear on
Done-For-You is a data reconciliation service. It gets your data accurate. It is not tax advice, accounting, or tax return preparation, and it should not be relied on as such. The same is true for the friend you refer.
Terms
The program is open to Summ clients who have completed and paid for a Done-For-You engagement in full.
A referred person qualifies only if they have not previously purchased Done-For-You from Summ, they sign on for a Done-For-You engagement, and they pay that engagement in full.
The referred person receives $150 off their first Done-For-You engagement, applied by Summ to their invoice. The referrer receives $150 in cash.
Both amounts are denominated in the currency the referred person's engagement is invoiced in.
Rewards are paid by PayPal, to the email address Summ holds for the referrer, on a monthly cycle 60 days after the end of the calendar month in which the referred person's payment in full is received. Summ absorbs any PayPal transaction fees.
Deposits, part payments and instalments do not trigger a reward. The engagement must be paid in full.
A maximum of five rewarded referrals applies per referrer.
Where more than one person claims the same referral, the reward is paid to the referrer who introduced them first, as determined by Summ's records.
Self-referrals, referrals within the same household, and referrals of people already engaged in a sales conversation with Summ are not eligible.
If a referred engagement is refunded, cancelled or charged back, no reward is payable. Where a reward has already been paid, Summ may recover it from a future payout.
Expert Review engagements do not qualify on either side of a referral.
No GST applies to the reward. The referrer is responsible for any other tax payable on the reward in their own jurisdiction. Summ does not withhold tax and does not provide tax advice in relation to the reward.
Summ may change or end this program at any time. Referrals introduced before a change takes effect are honored under the terms in place when they were introduced.
Summ's decision on eligibility and payment is final.
